Surveyed on Salmonella Infection of Collected Rats in Daejeon Area

Abstract

|
Surveyed on Salmonella infection in rats were carried out 134 rats i. e. 71 Ratus norv-egicus, 43 Ratus ratus alexandrinus, 20 Ratus ratus, collected in Tae Cheon Area, during the period from December 1974 to May 1975.
The isolation rate, and antibiotic resistance of isolated Salmonella were studied. The results were summarized as follows ;
1) The rate of isolation of Salmonella were 4 out of 134 rats(2.9%)
2) In the isolated Salmonella strains, One was S. typhimurium and Two were S.
enteritidis from 17 Ratus norvegicus, and One was S. enteritidis from 43 Ratus ratus alexandrinus.
3) Antibiotic resistance in the isolated Salmonella from the rats were observed mod-erate resistant in Erythromycin, Terramycin, Aureomycin and sensitive in Kana-mycin, Chloramphenicol, Penicillin, and Streptomycin, respectively.
